Victoria Cheong aka New Chance is a Toronto-based producer, composer and vocalist. Her work in music also includes DJing, remixing, and a long time collaborative practice in contemporary dance. New Chance incorporates both acoustic and electronic instrumentation, weaving together machine and embodied technologies in equal measure. As an active collaborator in Toronto's avant music scene as well as a practicing astrologer, Cheong brings a wide array of influences to her mesmeric solo work. In 2023, New Chance released an art edition mantra record, Peaceful Mind (Personal Records). Her most recent release, the full-length concept album, A Rock Unsteady (We Are Time) combines spiritual strains of downtempo, dub, house and electronic pop. New Chance performs the songs from her latest album in collaboration with musician Johnny Spence.
