LEANNE BETASAMOSAKE SIMPSON - SOLIDIFICATION
Sappyfest is excited to welcome back Leanne Betasamosake Simpson with the debut of Solidification from Noopiming Sessions!
Noopiming Sessions was inspired by Leanne’s upcoming novel, Noopiming: A Cure for White Ladies (forthcoming September 1, 2020 from the House of Anansi Press) and created in artistic collaboration with Ansley Simpson, James Bunton and Sammy Chien, during the on-going social isolation of COVID-19. Noopiming Sessions consists of a series readings from the novel co-mingled with original sound recordings by Ansley and James and a forthcoming video by Sammy Chien and the Chimerik似不像collective for the track Solidification.
All vocals by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson from her forthcoming novel Noopiming: A Cure for White Ladies. Leanne’s vocals and all tracks where mixed and mastered by Heather Kirby at Dreamlands Mastering in Prince Edward County. The music for “Solidification” was composed, performed and recorded by Ansley Simpson.
Leanne Betasamosake Simpson is a Michi Saagiig Nishnaabe writer, academic and musician. She is the author of several books including Islands of Decolonial Love, This Accident of Being Lost and As We Have Always Done. Her next full length record, Theory of Ice, will be released this winter. Her new novel, Noopiming: The Cure For White Ladies is available from House of Anansi Press.
