BONJAY (Toronto) With Alanna on the mic and Pho on beats & effects, their live performance is a high-energy sound system of bass and soul. Bonjay takes dancehall innovation, indie sentiments, and R&B hooks and makes them their own. (Winnipeg) Youthful, enthusiastic, and stripped of pretension: Cannon Bros. filter their friendship, ability, and points of reference into honest self–expression. CHAD VANGAALEN (Calgary) Hailing from Calgary, Chad VanGaalen creates a delightfully soothing indie rock sound. His airy falsetto is part Christopher Cross and part Thom Yorke, and it’s hard not to be charmed by his fantastically bizarre imagination. Myspace Flemish Eye Youtube	CHARLES BRADLEY (Brooklyn) Commonly referred to as, “The Screaming Eagle of Soul,” Charles Bradley is a funk/soul/R&B singer whose performances celebrate the feel of funk and soul music from the 1960s and 1970s. It contains elements and influences from his childhood and from his parents; folk tinged ballads and country music paralleling the works of Hank Williams and George Jones. DRUMHELLER (Toronto) An all-star quintet of Toronto new-generation improvisors. Drumheller’s music is both grandly swinging and bizarre at turns. A striking, iconoclastic, and superb group pushing the boundaries of jazz and improvised music. Fond of Tigers combine precision odd-meter power tactics, the chaotic thrash of no wave, and a punk-ish predilection for good-natured noisemaking to deliver a compelling punch. GOBBLE GOBBLE (Edmonton) Caught in a strange dialogue between harsh noise, electronic music, and indie rock, GOBBLE GOBBLE features stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic bubbling synth arpeggios, crunked-out sparkling 808 hats, and bursts of digital noise. His songs walk an inscrutable line between beauty and determination, capturing the imaginations of young and old alike. GRIMES (Montreal) Inspired by R&B, industrial, goth, and hip hop, Grimes makes music out of all sorts of unwieldy found and original sounds, rendering them into creepy, otherworldly weirdo-pop that is atmospherically intoxicating, strangely beautiful, and catchy as hell. Myspace Vimeo	HAMILTON TRADING CO. (Toronto) The music of Hamilton Trading Co. is the solo work of Keith Hamilton backed by an impressive gathering of friends. With minimal instrumentation and haunting vocals, they perform as a choir live, and that rules. Myspace Southern Souls	HASH JESUS (Sydney) Albert Lionais and Ian MacDougall may have started guitar / drum duo Hash Jesus as a getaway from the juggernaut of the Tom Fun Orchestra, but the band has found its own legs and continues to impress with their own blend of rhythmic indie rock. HIDDEN WORDS (Montreal) Inspired by the Bah Bahá'í Faith, Hidden Words immersed themselves in its scriptural tradition, recognizing an implicit musicality to the Writings and composing melodies that elucidate this lyricism. Facebook Youtube	HOMO DUPLEX (Dartmouth) Ron and Kristina decided to start a band by putting a bunch of words into a hat- like "fast", "slow", "loud", "quiet", "trumpet", or "7/8 time" - drawing at random, and writing songs based on what came out. Myspace	HOODED FANG (Toronto) Shamelessly plundering all musical genres in the service of crafting the perfect pop tune, Hooded Fang can sound like The Cure at their least gloomy and Herman Düne armed with synths and a trombone. JENNIFER CASTLE (Toronto) A bluesy chanteuse who sings with such icy heart that you can feel your marrow quiver. Timeless in tone and dense with mystery and mysticism, she constructs a sonic environment steeped in longing and foggy like a half-remembered dream. JOHN K. SAMSON (Winnipeg) As one of our nation’s greatest vocalists and lyricists, John K. Samson, even without the Weakerthans, doesn’t usually make regular music; he makes incomparably fantastic music. JULIE DOIRON (Toronto) Canada’s underground indie darling and a Sackville treasure, Julie Doiron’s guitar is one of the more beautiful odes to the everyday. With a slew of musical collaborations the world over, Doiron continues to win over audiences one beating heart at a time. LISA BOZIKOVIC (Toronto) Lisa Bozikovic’s music goes straight to the heart. Her songs tell stories of people that take and take, people that give and give, people that love like kids, and people that love to live. LUCAS HICKS (Sackville) From the small, quaint alley ways of Sackville, this high-school heartbreaker just wants to thrill audiences with his unique brand of power-pop inspired anthems. Myspace	MANTLER (Toronto) Although he studied classical piano for years, it wasn’t until his late 20s that Chris A. Cummings began recording his neo-soul pop under the name Mantler. Armed with an electric piano, Mantler gracefully waltzes you around the fringes of your perception. MINOTAURS (Sudbury) Straddling a realm between pop and folk, and bubbling with sophisticated rock dynamics, Minotaurs boast tunes that are catchy, inspiring, and mind-bogglingly funky all at once. Myspace Minotaurs Vimeo	MOONSOCKET (Fredricton) Moonsocket is Chris Thompson who played guitar in the now disbanded Eric's Trip. Moonsocket started around 1992. It was just him, his 4-track and his acoustic guitar along with some background noises. When Eric's Trip broke up in 1996 Moonsocket evolved from a solo side project into a full band with the addition of Ron Bates of Orange Glass and Chris Flanagan. Myspace	NAT BALDWIN (Brooklyn) Nat Baldwin is an upright bass player and a singer, taking each skill to its limit. NO MORE SHAPES (Calgary) This all-star trio explores territories such as small sound electronic improvisation to full on Ornette-ish like free bop, while also drawing from musical sources such as rock, pop, folk, and noise. Myspace Drip Audio Youtube	OWEN PALLETT ET LES MOUCHES (Toronto) Besides being renowned for his lush orchestral arrangements for bands such as Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, and Beirut, Owen Pallett is a celebrated multi-instrumentalist best known for his on-stage violin-looping masterworks. Myspace Owen Pallett Youtube	PAT JORDACHE (Montreal) Pat Jordache is the sound of Pat Gregoire and his bass guitar, with distorted vocals set awash in looped waves of echoic percussion and densely filtered chords. SANDRO PERRI (Toronto) Best known for his instrumental / electronic work under the Polmo Polpo alias, Sandro Perri’s most recent project under his own name blurs the lines between post-rock, electronic, ambient, and folk. SILKKEN LAUMANN (Ottawa) Silkken Laumann is a collaborative panty-load of a dance music project from Ottawa. Treading the lines between improvisational/experimental music, 90's house and electro, Silkken is made up of electronic artist/composer Adam Saikaley and Rolf Klausener & Pat Johnson (The Acorn). CITY MAIL City Mail is a project dedicated to the free delivery of inner-city postables, invesitgating and expressing the personal and physical geographies that make up a place. We're happy to have City Mail returning to collect and deliver Sappy mail.	DON PYLE'S 'OUT OF FOCUS TALKING SLIDE SHOW' Musician and photographer Don Pyle narrates a slideshow of photos and outtakes from his new book, Trouble In the Camera Club. These rare shots document the first wave of punk and the artists surrounding the birth of that revolution, from 1976 - 1980. Toronto area bands The Diodes, Viletones, The Ugly and Teenage Head share the spotlight with Ramones, Dead Boys, Iggy, The Runaways and other visiting dignitaries. For more information click here.	JERRY GRANELLI WORKSHOP The workshop is a state of mind. Where improvisation is more than a style; it is a way of learning. The workshop is divided into two parts, the creative process, and the ensemble. In every case the workshop is based in experiential practices. Listening. Hearing.Veterans or first timers: The workshop will include work on both of these routes. This two hour workshop is open to musicians of any disicipline who have an interest in learning more about the art of improvisation.
